Marbella is often named the jetset centre of Europe. Prominently presented in major international media and long a favourite of international personalities such as Sean Connery for example.
Marbella’s motto is “a way of life”, suggesting its inherent richness for body and mind. Life on the coast takes on a different meaning as you will find when moving to this cosmopolitan area of southern Spain. Due to its geographical situation and the mountain ranges which surround it, Marbella enjoys a special micro climate with no harsh winters nor suffocating summers: the medium annual temperature is of 19°C, the sun shines 320 days per year with less than 50 rainy days, and these are generally in the months of November and December. On the other hand, the rain is necessary to maintain the varied and exuberant vegetation.
Marbella has long attracted visitors from all over the world and travelling west from Marbella one enters probably the most famous stretch along the entire Costa del Sol – the “Golden Mile” so named for its abundance of palatial villas and luxury apartments for rent. At the end of the Golden Mile lies Puerto Banús, one of the most prestigious marinas in the world.
The old quarter is still a charming reminder of days gone by with the shady terraces of the Plaza de los Naranjos and narrow streets lined with traditional white washed pueblo style houses. The Parque de la Constitución houses an amphitheatre – hosting outdoor productions throughout the summer, and there are a number of other leafy parks in the town.
