Cost of living in Spain
The cost of living in Spain compared to other European
countries is much lower. The general expenses of
owning a property can be between 1200 and 3000 euros a year, depending
on how much utilities you will be using
and how often you are present in the house.
Utilities bills come every two months for electricity and
every three months for water. A 4 head family will generally use
around 100 euros per month. Air conditioning in summer and
heating in winter can increase this cost. Expect to pay between 300
and 900 euros per air conditioning unit and around 500 euros to have it
installed. Water expenses will be from 30 euros per month,
but may be much higher if you have a swimming pool or garden.
If you live in a community complex, you are also obliged to pay
"gastos de comunidad" (community fees). These are in areas which share communial pool, garden, roads, entrances, etc.
This amount varies from area to area but could cost anything
from 50-150 euros per month. The cost of a washing machine in
Spain is about 200-500 euros. If you are looking to furnish your
